Super Easy Installation, April 16th, 2014
I used this router to replace an old Linksys G router. The installation was ridiculously simple. I did not have to change my router name nor password. At first i would loose the signal about twice a week. At first I thought that it was because I bought a refurbished unit and was getting ready to contact Linksys. However, I went into the router settings, and changed everything in the 5G band to auto instead of the hard numbers that were there. Haven't had a problem since.
I get a decent signal all over my small apartment without the need for any boosters. It is a great unit, but somewhat expensive. After I bought it, I read the router rankings in PC World magazine, ans the Asus router was actually rated better, and I believe it was even cheaper.

expensive, gui based config unreliable, February 11th, 2014
Bought this because it was a CISCO router but all I got was a Linksys, gui driven semi customizable solution that works some of the time.
I have been using it for two weeks and have had to completely reset it twice and reconfigure it two more times which means everytime breaking out the network cable and plugging it in.
Sure it has WPS and tap and configure if you consider that secure, I do not. I want mac address filtering, hidden SSID's, ability to telnet to the device and so on. While it has mac filtering it lacks the last 2 and for the price, with the name CISCO standing proud on the front I did not even think to check. Don't make the same mistake I did, this is just your average home owner router with a pretty badge!
By the way being a Microsoft Systems Engineer my experience with every other CISCO product I have owned or worked with has been excellent. I gave it 2 stars because outside what I mentioned when it has worked I saw no issues with it.

Avoid this router, February 13th, 2014
First, the router had problems from the beginning and would randomly lock up and or reboot. Then it began to completely lock up and I would have to do a factory reset and then reconfigure to get it working again. I thought at first it might be trying to customize some settings on the router that made it so unreliable and prone to completely lock up and need to be reset. So I started taking most of the defaults with minimal customization to ensure it wasn't something I was doing that was causing the problems.
Then one day I was unable to even do a factory reset on the device and it was a complete brick. Fortunately I purchased the unit through Costco and their concierge service was on the phone when we contacted Cisco/Linksys/Belkin for support, otherwise they were wanting to charge me to troubleshoot!! So the tech had us repeat what had already been done along with some undocumented engineering steps to reach the same conclusion the device was no longer operable.
This started the nightmare RMA process in which I was told I would receive a refurbished product and that it would ship in 5-7 days. The next day I was notified they were out of stock and spent the next month waiting for them to ship a replacement. Needless to say, my old router worked flawlessly the entire time I was waiting for the replacement).
I completed the RMA process and shipped the old unit back via UPS as instructed which cost me approx. $20 out of my own pocket not including all of the time I wasted during this entire process. Yesterday I got a call from Linksys informing me they never received my unit and they had billed me for it since I didn't return it. Sure enough, I checked my credit card to find a charge for $239.13. So I then had to find my tracking number to prove to them it had been delivered to their dock and signed for. Now I am stuck waiting for them to reverse the charges on my credit card.

Easy to set up!!!!, March 2nd, 2014
I'm not an expert, but good at following directions that comes with the disc. I jut put the disc in my computer and followed instruction on screen, when it came time to plug it in to my modem to set it up, I did. It begin to download the information it needed to set it up, then told me that the set up was successful. The router was working. I was done with the set up that was two days ago, it runs fine and seems to have good speed. Netflix works great. I have two iphones and hdtv, laptop, and bluray player connected to it and family and grandkids devices they bring and everything works with no problem.
It also came with a tap card for icloud device manager, I tapped the card on my iPhone with the card and now have the cisco app just in case I want to use that too. I used the same setting that was on my last router, so everything is working and didn't need the app to set up my devices. It was just as easy to set up the router as my last which was also a Linksys. I bought this refurbished, someone must have returned it, I paid half price. The router has worked great for me, I have a great new router now.

Kudos to Linksys, February 8th, 2014
By far the best Wireless Dual-Band router I have ever installed for my home network. There is never any lags or drops. The range of the network works over my entire one acre property. Extremely user friendly and easy to install. Security of the network is easy to manage. The software and apps are perfect for managing my home network. Any future wireless router purchases will only be from Linksys!

Works great no problems so far, January 13th, 2014
Easy to configure and setup. Have not used other features yet, just bought it about a month. Its the best Wireless Router I had so far, I hooked up two computers, my Desktop using wired, and other is my Laptop using the wireless didn't run into any signal dropped or slow download at all. The 2 USB ports are very nice for extra equipment. I hope to recoup the cost of this Router, not renting from Cox, soon. I recommend to anyone looking for a good Wireless Router.

No Telephone Numbers, December 25th, 2013
The Linksys EA6500 is a very good router but you are left to the owners manual to set up by yourself, there is not a telephone number to call if you have trouble in the set up, you are on your own. There is a way to contact the company in the manual, but it would be nice to have a number to call and talk to a real person.

Able to handle many connections, December 16th, 2013
It was time for a new router because I installed a Nexia home management system which streams a lot of video and other data to the Nexia server. My Belkin had worked well for many years but would lock up with the added load put to it. I decided to buy the best that Walmart had and it has worked well. I gave it 4 stars because I don't seem to have gained any signal strength and was expecting more to my garage. I may need to spend more money for a repeater to handle the wireless cameras out there. But for that I'd give it 5 stars.

Pro's: The EA6500 is "The Best" router I have ever used/owned. Lightning Fast and easy to set up with the Smart WiFi Software. The Smart WiFi Software is comprehensive, yet so simple to configure. The EA6500 has excellent signal quality both inside and outside my home which is in a very rural area. Attractive and sleek design as well, doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. Parental controls available as well which comes in handy when Grandkids visit. I use it for two PC's, 1 laptop, PS3, my 42" and 55" HDTV's, and 2 smart phones, plus whatever devices friends and family bring with them. Truly trouble free networking in my home. Updating the firmware and software is also very simplistic with the Smart WiFi software. I've used other routers in the past before switching to Linksys and I've never been happier. You just can't go wrong with a Linksys.
Cons: The only thing I could really say is that it doesn't have a Power switch like my last Linksys Router. Really a non issue though. Only reason I bought a new Linksys router is because my first Linksys, EA4500 went to my parents home so I can enjoy my devices there when I visit. That one is still going strong as well.

Smart Routers, November 20th, 2013
This was my 4th Linksys router I have purchased and each one was easily set up and worked great. The EA6500 was true to the billing for me. Was set up and connected my computer, other desk top, two printers, iPads and cell phones. The range was very good in a couple places in home and outside where sometimes connectivity might drop, but these locations were a non issue with this router.

Excellent Wireless Router, October 3rd, 2013
The Linksys EA6500 wireless router is an excellent product. I like it very much. Set up was relatively easy and it works extremely well. We have a two story house with the router located on the second story. It reaches all parts of the house including the basement with either a very strong or strong signal. The software to administer the router is also excellent. It is intuitive and easy to navigate. Thank you, Linksys, for a fine router product!

The first router failed on install (continuously power cycled). Exchanged for a second unit and worked perfectly. Setup was easy and installed as advertised. Had to manually enter my providers internet settings but also easy to do. All my computers and phones connected and working. Just having a little issue with connecting direct tv to the internet.
I'd give it 5 stars if not for the 1st bad unit.

easy to set up and connectivity, August 15th, 2013
I bought this new router as I switched from at&t dsl to wireless. It was easy to set up and has many more options that my previous router did not, i.e., guest log in, parental control, iphone apps, etc. It's also so much faster and does not kick me off the connection like the other one used to, which used to make me mad. I think this has been one of my best investments in a while, I highly recommend this product, you can't go wrong with it. I am going to buy the cameras also so I can monitor my house while at work, vacation, etc. This router is fantastic, I highly recommend it.

Super fast and long range, June 23rd, 2013
I bought this router to improve download speed and increase wifi range in our multi-level house. Without using the AC function, my download speed went from 60 Mbps to 104 Mbps. The range increased to full signal anywhere in the house. Also, I used to have buffering delays with Directv on-demand, not anymore. Also, the iPad app is great!

Great Speeds, Hard Setup/Poor Development, March 3rd, 2013
I purchased the EA6500 as a replacement for my EA4500 that quit working after 9 months (but I could not find the receipt to warranty it). I followed the directions for installation, but had issues getting it connected to the my Arris Cable Modem. When I called tech support, I was on hold for about 30 minutes before a tech rep was on the line, at which time I was informed that he was not trained to work with the 6500 and I was placed on hold for another 20-30 minutes. Once I got the correct representative on the phone, he was able to walk my through to get proper connectivity. However, I could not get my Xbox 360 to properly connect. I was then informed that Linksys support does not cover Xbox connectivity, and that I would have to pay a third party service to help troubleshoot the problem. The reason provided is that the Linksys representative did not want to damage the settings within the Xbox…understandable. However, the third party service was not reasonable. The lowest offered plan went for $80 for three months of service. This may sound reasonable, but the likelihood of needing additional support beyond this initial setup is minimal. In addition, I just spent over $200 on a router that is supposed to be “smart”, but yet required manual programming just to get it to work.
I was able to find a resource that helped me get my Xbox connected, by changing settings in the router, not the Xbox. I can say that the router is performing very well, despite the several hours in setup, programming, and research in order to get it to work with (3) laptops, (1) desktop, (2) tablets, (3) phones, (1) Xbox, (1) PS3, and (1) Wii.

Great router, very reliable, August 13th, 2013
I'm a huge fan of the e4200, V1. It was the best router I've had to date. So when the EA6500 came out, I had to try it. Although I can't comment on the ac wifi because I have no devices that support it, everything else about the router was great. Setup was easy, connections were stable, both wifi and wired. I can appreciate that Linksys wants to use the web-based interface but sometimes it doesn't always connect the first time and needs a page refresh. Since we are having to use this to access the router I'm hoping that they are gathering important information on how to keep the router running smoothly. I do like how I can access the router with my iPhone app away from home. No complaints here about performance or reliability, I use the media prioritization feature to keep XBOX Live and my XBOX 360 at the front of the line. Seems to be working great.

I purchased this Linksys EA6500 wireless router after dragging out my Linksys WRT54G wireless G router for all these years.
Wow what a difference! I have many devices connected at once and it doesn's skip a beat.
Also, the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi webtool makes it very easy to manage the network unlike older routers with software you have to download. I would absolutely reccommend.

I've used Cisco Linksys products in my home office for a number of years and it just keeps getting better - this is the best one yet!
Some issues installing but works well now, November 30th, 2012
There were a couple issues with it. Since it was so new their tech support didn't know the solution without working with me for a few hours. I list the most important issue below:
*) make sure the router isn't plugged into the same wall outlet as your computer, monitor and lamp (if they are all plugged into the same one). The router needs a more stable power supply and I had 2 desktop computers, 1 monitor, 1 lamp AND the router plugged into the same wall outlet (through a surge supresor). It would loose connectivity occasionally, but once I put it on its own wall outlet it worked great.

Fantastic Support, February 11th, 2013
My old (more than 5years) Linksys gave up the ghost this weekend, and I originally bought a different manufacturer router which we couldn't get working even with the seller's expert at this item helping us. So we took the other router back, and I bought this Linksys. We had trouble with the auto-setup, but this time, I got Linksys on CHAT on Sunday afternoon, and they painlessly walked me through the setup. For routers, you really want to have good support because I believe cable providers don't necessarily set up their signals to enable easy auto-setup. Linksys provided excellent support!! Once we got it running, we were able to quickly watch live streaming on our new wireless HDTV w/o any difficulties. Thank you Linksys!

Great Router But Not Free, July 17th, 2013
I love the features on this router but was disappointed that I had to purchase apps for my iPad in order to use them. The installation cd showed it as only costing $.99 but when I found it on the marketplace, it was $2.99. I know $3.00 is not a high price, but I still feel like the router cost enough. Good Performace , November 30th, 2012
Over all I am happy with the performance of the Linksys EA6500 wireless router and the Linksys WUMC710 universal media connector. I setup my Samsung smart TV to Linksys WUMC710 universal media connector and now I can browse the internet and stream Netflix HD video with out a hitch even with a PC hardwired to the Linksys WUMC710 universal media connector. the Linksys EA6500 wireless router its self in my opinion is not hard to setup, but you do have to make sure the machine or laptop your using supports wireless N or else it will never find the router. Once Linksys EA6500 wireless router is setup non wireless n devices work fine. Having the guest login is great. I always have people over using my WiFi access and its nice not having to give them my secure password. And with my Cisco Connect Cloud Android App, you can keep track on who is on your network even when you are not at home. I've yet to try shared storage and the Linksys wireless cameras, but I sure it will handle with out any problems. the only con I have encountered which still not sure if it was the router or My provider I had to restart it once since I got it for some reason it lost internet connectivity.
Thanks for your detailed review of the Linksys EA6500 wireless-AC router and its compatible wireless-AC universal media connector (bridge/adapter). This product is a great add-on for the Linksys EA6500 router because it allows any Ethernet enabled device to be upgraded to use the latest wireless-AC Wi-Fi technology for lightning fast wireless performance. The combination of Linksys EA6500 wireless-AC router + Linksys WUMC710 wireless-AC media connector is the recommended way to bring wireless-AC to all of your client devices like game consoles, roku, smart TVs, blu-ray players, etc.
To help others better understand this wireless-AC product and solution, wanted to add a link to the Linksys WUMC710 universal media connector.

Overall good router, when it stays connected, April 22nd, 2013
Overall, I think that this is a good router, and offers much better speed over my older one. To take full advantage of the speed (within your home network), you will need to upgrade your wireless computers with 802.11ac adapters. Set up was easy and all of my DLNA compliant devices were immediately visible, allowing me to stream my HD content. I have not had this router long enough to experience all of the other features it offers. The main problem that I have had over the last three weeks, as mentioned by another reviewer, is that it loses internet connectivity; has happened three times in the last two weeks...rebooting restores connectivity. Am in the process of troubleshooting with Linksys tech support, but I think the fix will end up being an eventual firmware upgrade.
