Blown away, August 12th, 2014
Absolutely blown away. Out of the box this unit covers my entire 1/4 acre lot. I can step into the un- attached garage and browse the web and stream video. At the furthest corner I still get 19+Mbps and the hits just keep on rolling! The app allows me to kick my kids off while I am at work if they are not getting their chores done. The fact that I can ID and name every device on my network is pretty nice too! All in all I love this router. I have been a loyal Linksys fan for over a decade and this one has restored my faith in the product and then some! I am telling all of my friends about this one.

High End Router for Home Use, July 24th, 2014
Solid components and build quality come to life in the WRT1900AC. This is the most powerful home router I have ever owned. Blazing fast file transfers with rock solid performance. I've had zero drops on the wireless and I love the guest wifi and so do my friends! I use the Linksys Dual-Band AC1200 Wireless USB 3.0 Adapter on my PC and get wicked fast file transfers. Wireless range and file transfer speed (wired and wireless) is the best I've measured at the house. Plug your NAS server into the eSata or USB 3 port of the WRT1900AC and get ready to stream some serious data!
I also really like the software because it gives me complete control over my network whether I'm at home or on the road with the smartphone app. Kids take note! The network mapping display feature comes in super handy when you are setting up and monitoring your network too. You're going to be surprised how many internet needy devices you really have! The software is powerful, yet intuitive and very easy to use and master.
Now that I have the WRT1900AC up and running I honestly don't know how I would go back to not having one. I finally have a home router that is a powerful, rock solid piece of network gear that is easy to use and gives me total control of my network and internet usage. I can't imagine anyone not liking this router.

This Router IMOP is exceptional., July 25th, 2014
Just purchased this router. It replaces an older Linksys E3000 of which performance had become less than satisfactory given the number of wireless devices I have accumulated. The WRT1900AC is supporting a Roku, Sony Google TV, Nest Thermostat, a HP Officejet 8600 Pro printer, and Epson WF7510 printer and 2 Bose Soundtouch devices all through Wi-Fi. I have not experienced any of issues that have been identified in all the reviews that I have read thus far. Setup was a breeze, I disconnected my old router installed the new one according to the instructions. Launch the web interface, changed my SSID and password to the one that was previous setup for my network. It then connected to most of my devices. The others that did not connect, it was just a matter of powering them off and back on. The coverage within my 1800 sq. ft. single story house is now amazing. The device that was giving the worst Wi-Fi performance was my Sony Google TV. Getting strong Wi-Fi signal to watch YouTube or Netflix was largely hit or miss. Now that device works as intended. With the old router I tried to expand the signal using a Linksys RE1000. That device had problems extending the signal satisfactory. I do have it installed and connected to my network, but honestly, I don't think I need it. When I first installed the new router. I did not connect it to see what the coverage would be and as I stated before it was excellent. As an experiment I connected it. It was one of the devices that required to be powered off and on to get a connection. I did that and it connected. My experiment was to see if using the RE1000 would degrade the signal. It did not and it has not. So I'm leaving it connected. From my experience so far, I would say this router is a hit. Issues that I have read about it rebooting when you use the web UI has not happened. I have not had an issue with the Nest thermostat disconnecting. Everything to date work as expected. The only downside about this router is it is expensive.
Speed increased 240%, AWESOME router!, July 11th, 2014
Replaced my existing ISP router with this and saw my wireless speed increase 240% from 50 MBPS to 121 MBPS. Couldn't be happier and the installation / setup was very easy.
Great Product, June 21st, 2014
This is a fantastic device! I couldn't be more happy with it! Oh and after reading some other reviews and seeing issues like "when I'm interfaced with the router and it keeps freezing up or I get a error trying to navigate the interface". Well guess what that's most likely a browser issue. Some routers don't like firefox, chrome, or IE. Just have to test the browser with it and see which one clicks best with your router.
Love the router Linksys!! Keep up the good work!

Wow, June 9th, 2014
At first I was wondering why this thing is more money than other routers. Now I know why! Not all routers are made the same!
Solved all my wifi issues!! The speed is fantastic and the range is awesome. I can use the wifi outside now.
The fact DDWRT is supported is a plus. I'm going to give that a try!

A perfect Router, May 29th, 2014
I am really enjoying the speed of this router. This router also has great wireless range. It was very simple to setup. It looks so perfect sitting on my stand. I would say the only down side I have found is that you can not have an open connection, I really wanted to have a guest account that is open to any guest who is in my home, but now i will have to tell them the password to the guest account. I have had a little problems with sharing the external storage, but other than that this router is the best router i have ever had or seen or have even dreamed about having. Once again Linksys amazes me. Thanks Linksys!

This is one of the best Router I have ever Had, May 29th, 2014
Comparing all of those other brands routers such as Netgear or ASUS. This IS one of the best in the world and worth the money to pay for the performance that you want to enjoy it. I will never going to buy other brand. I will always will stay with Linksys. I love it so much.

Slow speeds and frequent dropped connections, April 26th, 2014
I purchased this router to replace a Valet Plus because my devices grew to 14 or more. My ISP delivers 50 mbps download wired but under 20 with the router. Two calls to tech support had minimal help. This router is not worth 200.00.It's too late to return it. I may have to go back to the Valet plus.

A Marvel to Behold!, April 26th, 2014
Today, I purchased the new WRT1900AC router. Upon opening the box, I was immediately presented with the router in very nicely padded and accented packaging, and the layout was satisfying to unpack. The router itself is a work of art and an engineering masterpiece! The feel, and a quick glance through the cooling vents appears to be a solid product. Upon connecting the router to my network, powering it up and configuring it was a snap. Literally, the four steps provided is all I needed. The user interface is intuitive and very easy to set up. Its performance, as well as the wireless coverage it provides is unbeatable. This router is more than worthy to carry on the famous WRT line. Belkin has unleashed the Linksys geniuses on this project and have created a masterpiece! Keep up the good work and I look forward to more amazing products in the near future. For those that are looking to replace their router, you won't regret the purchase of this amazing product.

Excellent, April 24th, 2014
Was impressed from when the box was opened right thru setup. Setup was the easiest of any router yet. Have 2 desktops (wired) a wireless laptop, printer, TV's and my Blackberry. Everything was up and connected in no time. NO PROBLEMS. And the wall mounting template was right on. The flashback look is pretty cool!!!

Works great now, tough at first with poor instructions., April 24th, 2014
This is the best router that we have ever had. It receives well through out the whole house (over 3000 sq ft. We have about 20 items; computers to printers to TV's using the router. It could not be better.
The only bad thing was the small information sheet that was included, with four steps. As we were changing from another version of routers. The four steps did not cover how to do that and we had some problems. The tec support was a group of foreign scrip readers and were not able to totally help. Fixed it myself by installing everything one step at a time. Wonderful setup now.

Best. Router. Ever., April 24th, 2014
I admit it, I ordered this router originally for emotional reasons; the WRT54G series routers from the early 2000s were my first foray into wireless computing. They were rock solid, feature packed, customizable, and just downright cool. (They were so iconic that even South Park used a WRT in one episode to personify the Intermet.). Technology moved on and with a larger number of devices and higher bandwidth requirements, eventually I had to replace the WRT with something more modern, always looking back with nostalgia at that WRT54G. When I saw this new one, I had to have it.
The new router delivers on and advances WRT heritage. In terms of performance, it blew away my previous router (an Asus RT66ac), and has no connectivity problems or glitches. The 802.11n 5Ghz range is incredible, even through lathe and plaster walls. The assembly and build quality is excellent. And of course, it looks cool. I had my old Asus router mounted in a media cabinet away from sight, but with the new WRT, I had to pull it out -- it needs to be seen!
I was originally very nervous when I saw that Belkin purchased Linksys, as I figured they'd ruin what Linksys does right since, in my testing, Belkin's routers were substandard. But with the new WRT, apparently Belkin is letting the mad scientists at Linksys tinker and do their own thing. Hope it stays that way.

easy to set up but still need some more direction, April 24th, 2014
I'm an older user and not particularly tech savy. I followed the directions and set up my first computer on the 2.4 band. Later I wished to switch it to the 5 GHZ but could not find out how to do that. I ended up hard wiring the connection which took care of things but I should would like to know how to switch back and forth.

Awesome Router, April 24th, 2014
Great Router, extremely happy with it so far. Blows my apple router out of the water... I think the only downfall was the hype about it I let myself get worked up and so far it is only meeting 75%-80% of what I thought.

No Hassle Setup, Superior Connectivity, April 23rd, 2014
My installation went flawlessly, and I was able to connect 18 various Wi-Fi devices, 7 wired devices, including a WUMC710 Media Connector, PLE400 Powerline 1-port Fast Ethernet, and an RE2000 range extender, and wireless Printer/Fax/Scanner to this router.
This router is the one I've been waiting for. It's been over 6 years since I was genuinely satisfied with any router, finding them klugey, buggy both operationally and through the user interfaces, and sometimes difficult to deploy. The Smart Wi-Fi user interface made setup easy. With Wi-Fi running smoothly in my household, my frustration levels have been considerably reduced.
It's got the power to handle my needs seamlessly, (and I know I'm probably pushing it more than most - but you'll get there sooner than you think). And it's fast. Got speedtests ratings improved all over the wide range of devices connected to this router. Media on a 3 TB,USB 3.0 drive connected to the router is visible and accessible by smart TV's, Blu-ray players, computers, gaming systems, and smartphones.
The wireless AC technology is the way to go, and this routers speed, connectivity, and range are all excellent.

Directions confusing even for techie... Distance issue 5Ghz., April 23rd, 2014
FYI: I recommend on the directions regarding WRT1900AC that the direct connection setup to the router be placed in the beginning sections of the setup directions and pdf directions. It is currently placed at the back of the card and I could not get into the router and set it up until I accidentally flipped over the card and found that statement on the back of the card. This cost me several hours of frustration as the browsers would not connect wireless to the router. Working fine once I did a direct connection for setup.
Second issue: What is the 5Ghz distance max?
2.4 can connect at about 100ft away, but very slow at this max distance to another building. 5Ghz will not connect at all.... doesn't even show up on Macbook Pro wifi list at that distance, but works fine within 20ft. What would actually be the correct antenna orientation for a slightly level distance of about 100ft to an adjoining building? I have them straight up.
Easy setup, April 23rd, 2014
Very easy setup procedure. Ten minutes and the unit was successfully installed on my system.
Seems to be bullit proof, no reboots necessary at any time.

With our previous router we weren't able to have WiFi in all of our rooms. The WRT 1900AC is great. We now have WiFi in all our rooms including upstairs and downstairs. It is easy to hookup. Signal, software ROCK, April 23rd, 2014
Packaging is really cool so good vibe from the outset. Solid feel to the router. Good power cord...no wall wart to take up too much space. Signal is amazing all over my house and the router is at the far corner of a pretty big house with lots of walls. But the best thing is the software. The ability to name various clients as you wish is wonderful for controlling a house full of tablets, phones, laptops, printers, cell signal boosters, etc. Can't wait to start hooking up NAS etc

Best router I have ever owned., April 23rd, 2014
The Linksys WRT1900AC is unquestionably the best router that I have ever owned. The signal is strong in all areas of my 4000 square foot, two story home and I am able to access both the secured and unsecured network from all areas in my home. Although I purchased two RE2000 Range Extenders, I haven't set them up yet and may not need them. I would definitely recommend this router to my friends and family.

Everything worked as adverised., April 23rd, 2014
I received the shipment when it was scheduled to be delivered. I unpacked it, disconnected my old WRT54 - 13 years old, followed the quick start guide and had my network up and running in about 45 minutes, including all mobile phones, kindles, Direct TV, and home automation system. The only issue was my HP printer - almost 15 years old - which only had WEP security. I could have used WEP but that disabled WPS, which all my other devices used. The local stationary store had printers on sale so that was easily fixed. Overall I am very satisfied and happy that everything worked as described. The new web interface takes some getting used to, it is actually easier to use than the WRT54 interface.

Most powerful router yet, April 23rd, 2014
I have been a Linksys user for as long as I can remember. The WRT1900AC is attic installed. My ISP is via radio link and with three diverse computer locations at opposite ends & levels, service was spotty and weak. After replacing the old router with the new WRT1900 the problems disappeared like magic. Setup and installation was the easiest of all Linksys I have installed yet. Bravo Linksys!

Lightning Fast and Impressive Range, April 23rd, 2014
I just upgraded from the EA6900, which is an impressive device, but the WRT1900AC BLOWS IT AWAY. After setting it up, which took around 5 minutes or less, I did some speed tests and clocked over 90 Mbps ON MY SMART PHONE. Regarding range, it's ridiculous. I exited my home and went out in the street and had to do some serious walking until the connection died. If you don't buy it, you are making a serious mistake.

New interface, larger size, no open firmware so feature lacking., April 21st, 2014
This is the first router I have bought as an 'early adopter', usually I wait for the prices to drop. This router has impressive specs yet the installed firmware seems to not take advantage of it. It has a 'beautiful'GUI for the novice, but it is advertised as an 'open source' router. There is no DD-WRT firmware as of yet for this router, so in reality it is not 'open source', they say the chipset for the WIFI is not open either, so they do not have a time line for a true dd-wrt firmware. If your use to the old Linksys, this new GUI is nothing like it. You can manage it yourself or setup an account at linksyssmartwifi, which I have yet to see a use in. You can add an app to your smart phone that looks useful for some local management functions, but it even lacks in displaying your Internet address, which would be nice if you don't use DDNS. The router it self is much larger than the old models, but then they have beefed up the system a *bit*. Right now I'd say it is a fine router but I'd wait for the new firmware(s) and the price to drop.

Nice HW, but FW and Support need serious work!, April 19th, 2014
Hardware seems very nice. Very fast wireless with good range on both 2.4 and 5 GHz. When it works.
But, I get lots of "unexpected errors" when configuring the router. User interface hangs a lot. Usually, restarting the browser helps, but this thing stopped communicating entirely. (both wired and wireless). Power cycling didn't help. Had to hit the dreaded RESET button and start my configuration from scratch!
Would love to send in error reports, but Linksys technical support is a bit of an insult these days.
The Support page doesn't provide a way to email the router's error messages to anyone. Want to start a Live Chat? You enter all your info and then there is no NEXT or CONTINUE button to submit this info to start the chat!
Would give this box five stars if the FW worked properly. And Linksys seems to make it almost impossible to help them by supplying errors as one encounters them.
And, yes, if you are wondering, I have the latest build in the router.

Great but one fault, April 21st, 2014
I have primarily used Linksys routers. The couple of times I tried other routers, I truly regretted it. I now only buy Linksys.
I like how quickly you can take it out of the box, put it in place of your old router, plug it in, and go! No CD's, no Password upgrades, etc. You can do all of this later at your convenience.
I like that you can set up 4 wireless signals, including 2 unencrypted signals that require browser log-ins instead. This is a huge help for all of my previously incompatible components. Also, I can change passwords at different intervals for different family members.
I have one major nuisance. I have to change the channel on my 5 GHZ wireless one time a day every day to lock in a steady signal. On day 1, I locked in channel 1. On day 2, I locked in channel 2. On day 3, I locked in channel 3. On day 4, I locked in channel 1. Every day, it worked perfectly the first time I locked in a new channel selection. I have not tried to determine if it is a router or PC problem though. I have to dig out my other PCs to check.

Great router, missing advanced QOS functionality, April 16th, 2014
I'd love to give this router 5 stars, but with the lack of a full QOS system I'm a bit disappointed. The media prioritization feature is a joke at best. Linksys/Belkin should really consider adding advanced QOS settings to this router, similar to what's available with the 3rd party firmwares. I'm waiting on the release of the 3rd party firmware for this router so I can address QOS myself.
If QOS is not a concern/need for you, you will love this router. Great range and speed, and extremely easy setup as usual.

Great Speed, Easy Setup, April 13th, 2014
Bought this to replace a Linksys EA6900 that was dying, my laptop with an 802.1AC card gets the same internet speed as my wired devices and with Comcast Blast now at 105Mb speed, my connection screams. Unplugged the EA6900. plugged this in and it recognized everything. Only thing that would have been nice is if it could have copied the DHCP settings but that was only a small thing to recreate.
